En la Comunidad de Agentes de Bienestar<\/a> que iniciamos a finales de 2023 trabajamos juntos para romper algunas inercias y automatismos que hacen que nuestro d\u00eda a d\u00eda en las redacciones sea muy dif\u00edcil y desafiante. Tenemos una profesi\u00f3n de alt\u00edsimo riesgo para nuestra salud mental. Somos un colectivo muy vulnerable: estr\u00e9s, ansiedad, fatiga, depresi\u00f3n, trauma vicario.<\/strong> Compartimos mucho sufrimiento y, sin embargo, muchos de nosotros nos sentimos completamente solos. \u00bfC\u00f3mo puede ser esto posible?, \u00bfc\u00f3mo podemos compartir tanto y a la vez estar tal alejados unos de otros?<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

En The Self-Investigation nos preguntamos constantemente qu\u00e9 podemos hacer para establecer v\u00ednculos significativos entre nosotros porque sabemos que la calidad de esos v\u00ednculos impacta directamente en nuestro bienestar y nuestro bienestar repercute a su vez en la calidad de nuestro trabajo<\/strong>. \u201cPara hacer buen periodismo necesitamos cuidar a los periodistas\u201d, dice uno de nuestros lemas.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Con el fin de crear o fortalecer esos v\u00ednculos de calidad, hace unos meses las personas que forman parte de la Comunidad de Agentes de Bienestar realizaron un ejercicio de escucha activa por parejas. Les propusimos que durante 3 minutos escucharan a su compa\u00f1ero o compa\u00f1era hablar sobre la situaci\u00f3n que en esos momentos le estaba causando m\u00e1s malestar en su trabajo<\/strong>. La \u00fanica indicaci\u00f3n que recibieron fue que en ning\u00fan momento de esos 3 minutos pod\u00edan interrumpir al compa\u00f1ero o compa\u00f1era y que al terminar de escuchar ten\u00edan que tratar de reproducir lo que acababan de escuchar. Es decir, se ten\u00edan que limitar a parafrasear lo que hab\u00edan escuchado: sin juicios, sin opiniones ni sugerencias, sin \u201cpues yo en tu lugar har\u00eda tal o cual cosa\u201d, sin tratar de dar una soluci\u00f3n. Solo parafrasear.<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Al poco tiempo de recibir estas indicaciones, uno de los miembros de la Comunidad de Agentes de Bienestar nos pregunt\u00f3 lo siguiente:\u00a0<\/strong><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

En la escucha activa \u00bfpor qu\u00e9 no debemos sugerir u opinar sobre el caso que se escucha? Digo: hay momentos en los que dan ganas de sugerir algo, como procedimientos, formas o maneras de actuar<\/i><\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

La respuesta que le dimos desde The Self-Investigation y que compartimos en su d\u00eda con el resto de la comunidad result\u00f3 ser un texto muy clarificador sobre el verdadero sentido de este ejercicio y, por extensi\u00f3n, de la conocida como \u2018escucha activa\u2019<\/strong>: una pr\u00e1ctica muy necesaria en estos tiempos en los que la conectividad y la soledad conviven parad\u00f3jicamente en el mismo instante.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Por qu\u00e9 deber\u00edamos practicar la escucha activa<\/strong><\/div>\n

<\/p>\n

El ejercicio de escucha activa es justo eso: un ejercicio de escucha con el que tratamos de entrenar concretamente esta habilidad que normalmente no nos permitimos practicar precisamente porque ese impulso que sentimos muchas veces de opinar<\/strong>, dar feedback al otro, sugerir maneras de actuar, aconsejar (que efectivamente no tiene nada de malo), nos saca de la escucha al otro; nos saca de tener la atenci\u00f3n sobre la realidad del otro y nos lleva a colocar de nuevo la atenci\u00f3n sobre nosotros.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Y ah\u00ed hay un intervalo de tiempo casi imperceptible en el que ya no estamos tratando de entender la realidad del otro, sino traduciendo la experiencia del otro a nuestro propio lenguaje. En ese tiempo, aunque no nos demos cuenta, dejamos de escuchar al otro y, por tanto, perdemos la conexi\u00f3n con \u00e9l o ella.<\/em><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

<\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

Lo que buscamos con este ejercicio es que los y las participantes<\/strong>, tanto el que habla como el que escucha, perciban la conexi\u00f3n que surge con el otro cuando se sienten escuchados y validados<\/strong>. No buscamos practicar para ser buenos consejeros, sino para que nuestro interlocutor se sienta conectado con nosotros. Esa conexi\u00f3n es terap\u00e9utica\u2026mucho m\u00e1s terap\u00e9utica que cualquier consejo, idea o sugerencia que queramos trasladar a nuestro interlocutor.\u00a0<\/p>\n

Despu\u00e9s de muchos a\u00f1os acompa\u00f1ando a cientos de personas como coach, si algo he aprendido es que la mayor\u00eda de las veces las personas no nos cuentan su malestar porque quieran un consejo. De hecho, las personas saben muy bien lo que necesitan, hay una gran sabidur\u00eda dentro de todos nosotros. Lo que las personas necesitamos es verbalizar, porque en ese verbalizar elaboramos nuestras problem\u00e1ticas y conflictos y descubrimos las soluciones que ya ten\u00edamos dentro<\/strong>. Por eso es tan importante entrenarnos en la escucha, porque el objetivo es dejar a las personas ese espacio de verbalizaci\u00f3n, es entrenarnos para aprender a darnos cuenta del momento en surge en nosotros el impulso o necesidad de intervenir, es entrenarnos para frenar ese impulso y solo dar consejo cuando el otro nos lo pida.<\/p>\n

Practicar este ejercicio no significa que siempre tengamos que conversar de esta manera, por supuesto que no. El ejercicio es una pr\u00e1ctica para entrenar una parte concreta de la conversaci\u00f3n. Es como si en el entrenamiento del deporte del basket estuvi\u00e9ramos entrenando el lanzamiento a canasta. El lanzamiento no es el basket en su totalidad, es solo una parte, pero es fundamental y hay que entrenarla: algunas veces de manera aislada.<\/p>\n

Obviamente, siguiendo con esta met\u00e1fora del basket, las conversaciones que tenemos en la vida real son m\u00e1s parecidas a un partido de basket que al entrenamiento espec\u00edfico del lanzamiento a canasta (que es lo que hacemos metaf\u00f3ricamente con este ejercicio de escucha activa). Pero cualquier jugador y amante de este deporte sabe que sin tiros a canasta encestados no hay basket. Por la misma l\u00f3gica, sin escucha no hay conversaci\u00f3n<\/strong>: siempre y cuando entendamos que una conversaci\u00f3n es un espacio de conexi\u00f3n entre dos o m\u00e1s personas y no una sucesi\u00f3n de mon\u00f3logos.<\/p>\n
