We\u2019re back with a <\/span>sneak peek of the eagerly awaited <\/b>Mental Health in Journalism Summit program<\/b><\/a>!<\/b> July and August tend to be slower months, so we\u2019ve used this time to work behind the scenes alongside our strategic partners to put together an inspiring, practical, and diverse agenda for our Summit.<\/span><\/p>

70 sessions in English and Spanish, including well-being activities, workshops, case studies, conversations, keynotes and lightning talks<\/strong><\/div>
150+ speakers from over 40 different countries<\/strong><\/div>

Our goal is to create a program in which everyone working in the journalism industry would find at least one session relevant to them. Why? <\/span>Because mental health concerns us all.<\/b><\/p>

Additionally, we want to showcase experiences from media players in every corner of the world\u2014as much as possible\u2014because we believe <\/span>there\u2019s a lot we can learn from each other.<\/b><\/p>

We will soon release the full schedule<\/b> of the MHJS24 with all the details you need to decide which sessions you\u2019ll want to attend. A global overview<\/b><\/p>

We\u2019ll learn about the challenges, tactics and strategies of<\/span> female journalists in African newsrooms<\/b>; we\u2019ll get an overview of the state of journalists\u2019 <\/span>mental health in Latin America<\/b> and, of course, we\u2019ll also have the chance to connect with our colleagues in <\/span>Ukraine and Gaza<\/b> to learn how they are coping under such extreme conditions.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>

At the Summit, you\u2019ll also be able to get inspired with <\/span>case studies<\/b> and examples of resilience from countries like the <\/span>Philippines<\/b>, <\/span>Bangladesh, Albania and El Salvador, <\/b>and from media companies such as\u00a0BBC <\/b>y USA Today.<\/b><\/p>

Most sessions will be in English and there will be a whole set of bonus sessions just in Spanish. There won\u2019t be simultaneous translation.<\/p>

Challenges and opportunities in the newsroom and beyond<\/h4>

Practical workshops will cover a wide range of topics: the use of <\/span>AI<\/b> to improve employee well-being<\/b>, strategies to <\/span>prevent online harassment<\/b>, <\/span>burnout<\/b> y <\/span>vicarious trauma<\/b>, the power of <\/span>creating a peer-support network<\/b>, and much more.<\/span><\/p>

Key topics such as <\/span>the role of leadership in creating a culture of care<\/b> and the challenges and expectations that<\/span> GenZ journalists <\/b>bring to the newsroom will also be discussed. We\u2019ll also learn how employee<\/span> well-being is being promoted in <\/b>other<\/span> industries.<\/b><\/p>

And there will also be well-being sessions! <\/b>Every day, we\u2019ll offer spaces to unwind and learn new practices to take care of ourselves, such as using play and creativity as forms of self-care, and mindfulness techniques.<\/span><\/p>
